Healthy Choices Program

St. James developed and implemented a "Healthy Choices" program to address some of the causes of childhood obesity. The objective of this program is to enable school age children between 8 and 14 years of age to make good nutritional choices and to understand the benefits of regular exercise.

St. Anthony Health sponsored a "Back-to-School" health event for the Duneland School Corporation Food Service Staff. When Tammy Remkus had her blood pressure taken, the nurse insisted that she go to the Emergency Room or see her physician right away. "My doctor said this screening probably saved my life," said Tammy.

Free Health Screenings

Dorothy Lauderback received a free screening mammogram and follow-up ultrasound. She truly believes this screening, along with the guidance and follow-up care provided by our Oncology Liaison, saved her life.

St. Clare Health Clinic

Its mission is to provide access to primary healthcare, health maintenance and health information to those who may otherwise endure hardship in order to obtain quality healthcare. It offers primary health care services, patient health education and screenings, and a food pantry for the uninsured of six area counties.

Prenatal Assistance Program

Providing free services to expectant mothers with limited or no family income including free pregnancy testing, referral and assistance resources, nutritional and pregnancy information, mother and infant care teaching after delivery and a clothing closet for expectant mother and baby needs.

Sports Medicine

Helping student-athletes stay in the game. The Elizabeth Health - Crawfordsville Sports Medicine program is an extension of medical care to the young athletes of the community. It provides continuity of care when the athletic trainers work with local doctors, physical therapists and the hospital.

Meals on Wheels

Loretta Cavanaugh and Martha Adair (left to right) coordinate and package the meals for a daily delivery for Meals on Wheels. Cavanaugh and Adair come to the St. Clare kitchen and package the meals according to recipients and delivery routes. They volunteer once a week and prepare about 50 meals.

Franciscan Alliance and our 14 hospitals in Indiana and Illinois provide care for more than 2.9 million outpatient visits and more than 100,000 inpatient discharges every year with the most effective medical treatments, state-of-the-art medical equipment and an abundance of compassionate care.

Our single focus each day is helping people get better. Each of us is involved in healing and teaching; in increasing spiritual awareness; and in continuing Christ’s ministry in our Franciscan tradition. We carry on a mission that began more than eight centuries ago when St. Francis of Assisi left behind all his worldly goods and ventured out to care for those in need. His legacy of service has guided us for more than 135 years, and it continues to inspire us today.
