Outpatient Nutrition Services: Linking nutrition and good health

Many major health problems, including heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes, are linked to eating habits.  While scientists still have much to discover about nutrition and nutrition- related disorders, the knowledge and implementation of heart-healthy nutrition practices can promote better health, impact treatment, and even prevent disorders.

Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Crown Point offers outpatient nutritional counseling services in order to help you maintain and regain personal health. Our registered dietitians are available to answer your questions and provide counseling.

Therapeutic and Preventive Services
  • Therapeutic diets - Prescribed by a physician and planned by a dietitian, a therapeutic diet can be used as one aspect of treatment for individuals with chronic diseases or for individuals recovering from surgery. Nutritional counseling and education is available to answer questions about healthy ingredients, serving size, and preparation.
  • Preventative Nutrition - Offered to healthy individuals, our registered dietitians provide nutritional programs and individualized plans to keep you in good health. Our registered dietitians provide individualized plans to best serve each patient.

Nutritional counseling requires a physician’s order. Consultations are available weekdays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Initial consultations are scheduled for one hour with follow-up sessions scheduled as needed.

A fee is charged for nutritional counseling. To determine insurance coverage, each individual should check with his or her insurance company.
