Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Crown Point’s Prenatal Assistance Program, offered through the St. Clare Health Clinic, provides outreach services to expectant mothers in Lake, Porter, Jasper & Newton counties with limited family income to assist them in accessing the health care system, public assistance programs, as well as community and hospital services.
Personal instruction in healthy pregnancy practices, nutrition education, and pregnancy information are provided to help the mother attain a healthy pregnancy resulting in a healthy full-term infant. Regular supportive contacts and home visits are important aspects of the program. A post-delivery home visit is made to help the new mother with questions and concerns regarding the care of her new baby and for herself during her recovery period. The visits are made by a registered nurse who works in cooperation with the patient’s physician throughout the mother’s prenatal and postpartum care.
