Catherine McAuley Clinic: Helping everyone who walks through our doors

The Catherine McAuley Clinic is a volunteer- based medical clinic for uninsured citizens of the Northwest Indiana area. The mission of the clinic is to provide medical and referral services at a nominal cost to the medically underserved. This clinic is our response to God's call to minister to the sick and neglected.

Our Services

The clinic's physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, volunteers and support staff provide primary health care services to adults, including:

  • Physical exams & wellness education
  • Disease prevention
  • Diagnosis and treatment of episodic and chronic health problems
  • Women's screening exams Influenza vaccinations
  • Laboratory services
  • For additional tests, such as X-rays or imaging tests, patients must see a financial advisor at Franciscan St. Margaret Health to make arrangements for payment or assistance.

Who Qualifies for Treatment?

Patients who have limited financial resources to pay for treatment of basic health needs or are ineligible for any type of health insurance qualify for treatment at the clinic.

The clinic serves uninsured residents who live in northern Lake County, Indiana. Prospective patients must apply in person and bring a valid Indiana photo ID, proof of income and residency, and medical records, if available on their first clinic visit.

An application qualifying process is required prior to being seen at the clinic. A $5.00 donation fee is requested for a health care provider visit if able to do so.

Prescriptions

There is an administrative fee of $5.00 for each prescription, when prescriptions are given.

If the prescription is on the $4.00 Wal-Mart plan, a prescription will be given to take to any Wal-Mart pharmacy or a pharmacy that will honor the prescription for $4.00. The individual will be asked to pay for this prescription.

The clinic will help individuals obtain medications from pharmaceutical companies, if applicable, at no charge to the patient.
