Services provided
Our staff covers four paramedic ALS ambulances, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and one paramedic ALS ambulance 12 hours a day, seven days a week. The 911 emergency ambulances are staffed at a minimum by one Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) and one Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B), in accordance with state statutes. We also have a bicycle team available for special events. We provide coverage for such events as the Taste of Tippecanoe, the Feast of the Hunter's Moon, Dancing in the Streets, the Tippecanoe County Fair and many other events. In 2007, we added a bariatric conversion to one of our ambulances because of the increased need for this service.
Experienced staff
As of January 2012, 40 paramedics and 22 EMT-Bs staff our ambulances, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Many of our staff members have been with our organization between 5 and 10 years, and some have been serving the citizens of Tippecanoe County since 1975, when Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health first began providing Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of Tippecanoe and surrounding counties.
Ongoing training
Pre-hospital emergency medicine still a relatively new field in medicine; therefore emergency personnel are required to continually expand their knowledge base to stay current on the latest life-saving trechniques. Their expertise must span from infants to the elderly patient, each with his/her own needs and influenced by many multicultural backgrounds.
