Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health offers individualized and group nutrition counseling to meet your nutrition goals by working with you to develop a plan that fits your lifestyle.


Outpatient Services
Outpatient dietitians help patients manage various diseases and control their weight through proper nutrition. We can work with you individually, or in a group setting. We provide a variety of outpatient nutrition counseling services for medical conditions, including:

Some of these services may be covered by insurance, and all require a referral from your doctor.

 
Reasons to meet with a dietitian
  • You have kidney, heart problems, high cholesterol or high blood pressure
  • You have digestive problems such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's Disease, or Ulcerative Colitis
  • You have had recent surgery and have concerns regarding a healthy diet
  • You are thinking of having or have had gastric bypass surgery
  • You need to gain or lose weight
  • You want to eat smarter
  • You have concerns regarding your child's or family's eating habits
  • You are pregnant or trying to get pregnant

Please bring the following items to your first appointment:

  • 3-day food diary
  • List of current medications
 
What happens during my counseling session?
During your counseling sessions, you’ll learn:
  • Specific food choices that are right for your diet
  • How to read food labels
  • How to eat healthy while dining out
  • How to plan daily meals
  • How to modify recipes to make them healthier.
 
Will insurance cover my appointment?
Insurance coverage for medical nutrition therapy varies; please check with your insurance provider prior to the appointment to determine if the service will be covered. Financial counselors are available to assist you with your payment needs.
 
Inpatient Services
Nutrition can play an important role in healing. When a physician decides that a patient needs help establishing a healthy eating plan, Inpatient dietitians work with doctors to make sure care plans are set up to help people heal and get out of the hospital faster We help patients manage their nutrition support and provide diet education for patients headed home from the hospital.
