Our Mission

The doctors and employees of Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Michigan City, along with all Franciscan Alliance hospitals, work to live our hospital's mission:

"Continuing Christ's Ministry in Our Franciscan Tradition."

What does this Mission Statement mean to us?

Our mission isn’t just a statement; it’s a way of doing our work and living our lives. Together, we put each part of our mission into action:
Continuing
To maintain without interruption, the values, the traditions, the good works of the hundreds of thousands of people who have gone before us and those who are presently working within the Franciscan Alliance facilities.

Christ's
Jesus Christ, who lived over 2000 years ago, is the model for each of us in the living of our lives. Jesus lived His life as a Teacher and as a Healer. He was gentle. He was compassionate. He was loving and caring. He listened and He spoke when this was needed. He cried and He laughed. He was joyful and He was pensive. He was prayerful. He truly is the model for everything that we do!

Ministry
Each of us is involved in a ministry that heals others. As a housekeeper, nurse, pharmacist, cook, accountant or physician----each of us assists the patient according to our own skills, expertise and profession.

Our
This is our mission – we own it and we carry it out every day. The people behind the traditions, the culture, and the good works within our facilities are what make us Franciscan Alliance.

Franciscan
We carry on a mission that began more than eight centuries ago when St. Francis of Assisi left behind all his worldly goods and ventured out to care for those in need. His legacy of service has guided us for more than 135 years, and it continues to inspire us today.

Tradition
Yes, our mission is an inherited one but it is our responsibility to carry it into the future. To continue the tradition and keep it alive for our patients and our communities.

The Symbol
of Our Corporation

The tau is the sign used by St. Francis to wish peace to all he met. The giving hand is generously prepared to minister Christ's healing to the weak, the suffering and the vulnerable. The receptive hand is ready to receive His healing power through our joyful, sensitive Franciscan ministry.
