Franciscan St. James Health offers a continuity of osteopathic medical education from the first year of medical school to the final year of postgraduate training. Internship and residency programs cover the spectrum of medical specialties. As one of the nation's largest postdoctoral programs dedicated to the osteopathic philosophy of medicine, Franciscan St. James curriculum is broad-reaching in scope and encompasses a multifaceted approach to graduate medical education that focuses on primary care. With unique teaching opportunities at some of the finest health care facilities in the Midwest and in the country, affiliated hospitals consistently lead the nation in terms of cutting-edge technology, treatment, and care.
Postdoctoral programs include traditional rotating internships; preliminary internships for our Diagnostic Radiology Program; residencies in all primary disciplines; and fellowship programs in many subspecialties. Programs follow the guidelines of and receive accreditation from the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the American Osteopathic Association.
First year trainees rotate through the principal primary care services: family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, and pediatrics, some of which may be completed at affiliated Chicago land hospitals and medical centers.
