The Greater Lafayette community is invited to attend an open house for Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health’s Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy program from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is located in the Advanced Wound Healing Center, located inside the Patient and Visitor Entrance via the lower ramp to St. Elizabeth Central, 1501 Hartford Street in Lafayette. Parking is available in any surface lot around the hospital or in the hospital parking garage.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy allows for quicker healing of chronic non-healing wounds.

Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health has provided wound care services since 1997. The staff and physicians at the Advanced Wound Healing Center treat the following: chronic wounds (wounds that do not heal quickly), diabetic ulcers, Stage 3 and 4 pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds, burns, trauma and skin disorders.

The Advanced Wound Healing Center provides the following treatments: serial wound debridements, application of skin substitutes (Oasis, Apligraf, Dermagraft), total contact cast for off-loading, specialty dressings (silver alginates/foams, collagen) and compression therapy.

In addition to treating wounds, Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health’s staff also provides patient and caregiver education; help with specialty equipment ordering; on-site access to take home wound care product vendors; dietary screening and referral to a dietitian, if needed; and access to hospital support services such as Radiology, Laboratory, Physical/Occupational Therapy and Outpatient Services; and coordination of wound treatment with other medical care.
